Important Change of Terminology:

• An issue of the terminology "master and slave" (from co-chairs of TC Telerobotics)
• As the IEEE TC for Telerobotics, we recommended:
1. That the terms “master” or “slave” are not used in future publications and presentations to describe components of a telerobotic system.
2. The choice of alternative terms is left to the discretion of individual researchers. Various terms may be appropriate for different teleoperation scenarios; suggestions from the community have included “haptic device/remote robot”, “leader/follower”, "driver/driven", and "teleoperating/teleoperated”.
